The day will include viola ensembles\, technique classes\, and elective classes. Elective classes for younger students will be a movement class and older students will learn about the college audition process. You will also get to meet your state Viola Professors from ASU\, NAU\, and UA in masterclasses*. Student performers are divided into junior or senior division\, where they perform for a panel of judges. Under no circumstance will a participant be allowed to enter more than one State Competition.  Membership number must be included on the registration form.\n\n\n\nThe age requirements for each division are:\n\nJunior – Grade 8 and under\n\n\n\nSenior – Grades 9-12\n\n\n\n\n\nPrevious first place winners of a certain category are not eligible to re-enter in that same category.\n\n\n\nRepertoire is to be selected from the standard classical literature matching your particular instrument. She is the concertmaster of the Sedona Symphony\, and a founding member of the Burn City String Quartet and its sibling ensemble\, the violin duo Broke Fiddles. She has also performed with the AZ Musicfest Orchestra\, Arizona Bach Festival\, Phoenix Symphony\, Tucson Symphony\, Arizona Opera\, Phoenix Opera\, the Arizona Chamber Orchestra\, and the Seattle Symphony. While studying at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Arizona State University\, Sarah worked closely with members of the Cleveland\, St. Lawrence\, and Orion String Quartets\, and members of these ensembles. She has collaborated on currently available and forthcoming orchestral and chamber music recordings\, available on the Con Brio and Summit labels\, and is a frequent collaborator in sessions with a variety of recording artists. \n\n\n\nAs a teacher\, Sarah supports student development through examination of technique\, exploration of musicality and discovery through movement\, and centering the joy of making music with others. Students are encouraged to travel their musical paths with purpose and a spirit of adventure. \n\n\n\nIn addition to her performance activities\, Sarah currently instructs violin and viola at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and coaches orchestra at Brophy College Preparatory. She holds performance degrees from The Cleveland Institute of Music and Arizona State University\, as well as the Dalcroze Certificate from the Dalcroze School of Music and Movement\, where she is currently pursuing the Dalcroze License. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNatalie Papini\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNatalie Papini\, PhD\, is an assistant professor at Northern Arizona University\, where she hastaught students stress management for the past eight years. Her research focuses on weight-inclusive approaches to health\, self-compassion\, and integrative strategies for stress reductionand behavior change. Prior to working in higher education\, Dr. Papini worked in healthcaretraining health coaches to support clients in making sustainable lifestyle behavior changes\,including stress management practices. She earned her PhD in Interdisciplinary Health and hermaster’s degree in clinical health psychology from NAU. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLynn Medoff\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLynn Medoff has been a practicing physical therapist since 1994. She specializes in the treatment of performing artists. Ms. Medoff has published and presented widely in the area of performing arts medicine including for the Arizona Strings Teacher Association\, the Arizona and Colorado Suzuki Institutes\, the Aspen Music Festival and is published in Medical Problems of Performing Artists. \n\n\n\nMs. Medoff is a classically trained dancer who holds an MA in dance from the University of Illinois. She has had an extensive career in training\, teaching\, performance and choreography. This includes the development and teaching of the Science for Dancers program at Florida State University. \n\n\n\nMs. Medoff integrates the art of dancing with the science of movement to develop a movement training program that maximizes movement efficiency which is especially helpful forperforming artists. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register for the Fall Workshop

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our first annual Young Artists Recital hosted by ASTA! \n\n\n\nThis event will feature students from around the valley who are embarking on their journey in music. This is an excellent opportunity for students to perform works that they will be playing throughout the 24/25 school year\, and will be a great way to share their music with a live audience. \n\n\n\nI am beyond thrilled to announce that our partner for our event is Downtown Chamber Series\, run by one of our most important community builders and allies\, Mark Dix. The concert will take place in a beautiful historic art space in Downtown Phoenix\, and will feature many art works by various local artists. The concert will be open to the public and will be free to attend. \n\n\n\nParticipation in this event is open to students of ASTA members only\, so if you are not a member and wish to join\, please do so by September 15th\, as your student will need your membership number to apply. Please fill out the form available on the website and return it no later than September 15th.
